How to Set Up Tunari VPN on Any Device
April 8, 2026
Before You Begin
Before setting up Tunari VPN on any device, make sure you have a Tunari account. You can create one directly in the app or on our website. New users get a 7-day free trial with no credit card required, so you can test the service risk-free before committing.
You will also want to consider which server location is best for your needs. Tunari VPN currently offers servers in France, Poland, and Canada. As a general rule, choose the server closest to your physical location for the best speed, or choose a server in a specific country if you need to access content from that region.
iOS Setup (iPhone and iPad)
Setting up Tunari VPN on your iPhone or iPad takes less than two minutes:
- Open the App Store on your device and search for "Tunari VPN"
- Tap "Get" to download and install the app
- Open the app and create a new account, or sign in if you already have one
- When prompted, allow Tunari VPN to add a VPN configuration to your device — this is required for the VPN to function and is a standard iOS permission
- Select your preferred server location from the list
- Tap the connect button to establish a secure connection
Troubleshooting on iOS: If the VPN fails to connect, go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management and ensure the Tunari VPN configuration is listed. Try switching between WiFi and cellular data to rule out network issues. If the problem persists, try selecting a different server or switching the VPN protocol in the app settings.
Android Setup
Getting started on Android is straightforward:
- Open the Google Play Store and search for "Tunari VPN"
- Install the app and open it once the installation is complete
- Create an account or sign in with your existing credentials
- When prompted, allow Tunari VPN to set up a VPN connection — tap "OK" on the system dialog
- Choose a server from the available locations
- Tap "Connect" to start protecting your traffic
Troubleshooting on Android: If you experience connection issues, make sure that no other VPN app is running simultaneously, as Android only allows one active VPN connection at a time. Check that your device is not in battery saver mode, which can restrict background VPN activity. You can also try clearing the app cache under Settings > Apps > Tunari VPN > Clear Cache.
Windows Setup
For Windows desktop and laptop users:
- Visit the Tunari VPN website and download the Windows installer
- Run the .exe installer file and follow the on-screen installation wizard
- Once installed, launch Tunari VPN from your Start menu or desktop shortcut
- Sign in with your Tunari account credentials
- Select a server location and click "Connect"
- You will see a notification confirming that your connection is now protected
Troubleshooting on Windows: If the app fails to connect, make sure your Windows Firewall is not blocking Tunari VPN. You may need to add an exception for the app. Also ensure that the TAP or WireGuard network adapter was installed correctly during setup — you can check this in Device Manager under Network Adapters. Restarting your computer after installation can resolve most initial connection issues.
macOS Setup
For Mac users:
- Download the Tunari VPN app from our website or the Mac App Store
- Open the downloaded .dmg file and drag Tunari VPN to your Applications folder
- Launch the app and sign in with your account
- When prompted, allow Tunari VPN to add a VPN configuration in System Settings
- Select your preferred server and click "Connect"
Troubleshooting on macOS: If macOS blocks the app from opening, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and click "Open Anyway" next to the Tunari VPN notice. Make sure you are running macOS 12 or later for the best compatibility with modern VPN protocols.
Choosing the Right Protocol
Tunari VPN supports multiple VPN protocols, and choosing the right one depends on your situation:
- WireGuard: The best all-around choice for most users. It offers excellent speed and strong security. Use this as your default protocol.
- IKEv2: A solid alternative that is particularly good at reconnecting quickly when switching between WiFi and cellular networks. Ideal for mobile users who move between networks frequently.
- OpenVPN: The most widely supported protocol with a long track record of security. Use this if WireGuard is not available or if you need maximum compatibility.
- VLESS+Reality: An advanced protocol designed to bypass deep packet inspection and VPN blocking. Use this if you are in a country with heavy internet censorship, such as Russia, China, or Iran.
What to Do After Your First Connection
Once you have successfully connected to Tunari VPN for the first time, take a few moments to verify that everything is working correctly:
- Check your IP address: Visit a site like whatismyip.com to confirm that your IP address has changed to the VPN server's location
- Run a speed test: Use speedtest.net to check your connection speed. A small reduction in speed is normal, but it should not be dramatic with a nearby server
- Enable the kill switch: Go into the Tunari VPN app settings and make sure the kill switch is turned on. This feature will block all internet traffic if the VPN connection drops unexpectedly, preventing any unprotected data from leaking
- Test for DNS leaks: Visit dnsleaktest.com and run the extended test to make sure your DNS requests are also being routed through the VPN tunnel
- Set auto-connect: Enable the auto-connect feature so that Tunari VPN automatically protects your connection whenever you join a new WiFi network
